Help Me Test Something

I am trying to code a nice image that when i have my next party it will show people when the party is.

But for this to work i need the script to find the date and time from your ip.

i have coded this up in just over an hour.

1. Dont worry if your region is wrong (should be correct to within 200 Miles)
2. Is the date and time your current time?
3. If its not post your:
Country (on the image)
Region (on the image)
GMT offset (on the image)
Date Time (on the image)
Actual Current date time
(I promise not to post your comment i will note down the problem and fix it)

Thanks

Everything is working alright! Can you tell us how you code that? I really want one for my site… it’s a brilliant widget!

  • @Joji – I have no plans on releasing it as a widget it would use way to much server load.

When I do have my party (a few days after ps 10 is released) I will make an image people can put on there site to advertise the party. which will have there local date and time the party will start at. this is just to test the concept.

From the reports i have been getting the data is almost 100% accurate for the USA and Canada. (although it puts me 300 Miles from where i live in the UK.

  • yo dude thats my info can you take it off plz :/

  • my region is wrong but very good work

  • @unknown – its not stored or logged.
@Sam – As i said its accurate to within 200-300 Miles.

  • Couldn’t You Use Penguin Standard Time (PST)? All Times Are The Same With PST.

  • how do you know that, thats my ip address?

  • @Ryan – http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_zone

@no mans land – your computer sends the server your ip address so the website can be sent back to it. (or your using a proxy server so your ip is hidden)

  • @Ryan

PST Time is actually Pacific Standard Time. Thats the time zone for British Columbia. :)
